Sterling Pathology uses a qualitative multiplex nucleic acid based molecular test, PCR, for the rapid, simultaneous, identification of 17 of the most common pathogens that cause outbreaks of gastroenteritis. The test includes 3 parasites, 3 viruses, and 11 bacteria that are extracted directly from stool samples. Results are available 48 hours after arrival at the laboratory.
