Sterling Pathology uses an FDA cleared, nucleic acid based molecular test, PCR, for the rapid, simultaneous, identification of 17 of the most common pathogens that cause outbreaks of acute respiratory illness. The test detects 14 viruses, and 3 bacteria that are extracted from nasal swabs.
