CHANGGAO YANG

Dr. Yang received his initial medical training from Shandong Medical University in China and completed a doctorate of medicine at the University of Melbourne in Australia. He received pathology specialties training in Canada, where he served as a postdoctoral fellow as well as a resident physician. Dr. Yang served as chief resident, fellow, and faculty at UCLA. He has practiced pathology for over 14 years and has been associated with many hospitals in Southern California. Dr. Yang is currently a certified Team Leader and National Inspector for Pathology Laboratories by the College of American Pathologists/CLIA Commission on Laboratory Accreditation.  Dr. Yang is the founder and medical director of Sterling Pathology National Laboratories.

Dr. Yang sub-specializes in gastrointestinal pathology and has been devoted to serving gastroenterologists in outpatient surgery centers and endoscopic centers since the founding of Sterling Pathology 2003.  He is well recognized for his expertise and his synoptic and/or narrated formula of Pathology reports have been widely welcomed by practicing clinical physicians.

Dr. Yang sub-specializes in uropathology and has been devoted to serving urologists in outpatient surgery centers and offices. He is well recognized for his expertise. Dr. Yang also actively participates in many national and regional urology conferences and is a member of the International Society of Urological Pathology.

Dr. Yang sub-specializes in dermatopathology and has been devoted to serving dermatologists in the nation. He is currently working with our two board-certified dermatopathologists. He is a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology.

Dr. Yang sub-specializes in hematopathology. His expertise and his synoptic and/or narrated formula of pathology reports have been widely welcomed by practicing clinical physicians. He was trained in Canada in hemato-pathology that also included clinical rotations in clinical hematology. He has been instrumental in establishing our new specialties in 10 color flow cytometry, FISH, cytogenetics, and molecular labs. Our newest platform is massive parallel next-generation sequencing technology for neoplasm, minimal residual disease, and hereditary cancer risk profiles.

Dr. Yang maintains the highest standards in Pathology through regular reviews and contacts with some of the most prominent pathologists at USC, UCI, and UCLA, including Cedars-Sinai. Dr. Yang also actively participates in many national and regional pathology meetings and conferences to further his knowledge of current research, findings, and trends in the pathology field.
