Urology

Urology is the study of the urological and urogenital system. The urogenital system relates to or involves both the urinary and genital organs. Uropathology is a sub-category of pathology which focuses on the diseases and disorders of these systems. Physicians specializing in urology are known as urologists, and the pathologists who interpret the lab work related to urology are known as uropathologists.

Studies of the urological and urogenital systems are done through examination of the urine, extracted stones, or tissue samples. Organs that may be involved include the bladder, kidneys, ureters, urethra, testes, prostate, penis, and other supporting organs.
